Description

This free lesson plan (Grades 4-6) is designed to be used in conjunction with the reading of "Sirius, The Hero Dog of 9/11" by Hank Fellows, which is available in Hank's TpT store. This 32 page children's book, with 25 child-friendly photos, is an ideal introduction to the facts and themes surrounding the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. This is the true story of "Sirius," the police patrol dog who died in the Twin Towers on 9-11-01. The story is told by "Sirius" in his own words, and also recounts his friendship with his police officer partner, David, who survived the 9/11/01 attacks. This book is currently being used in New Jersey's state-wide 9/11 Education curriculum. As a 9/11 teaching aid, this book is ideal not only for Patriot Day (9-11), but also for Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, July 4th, and the teaching of 9/11/01 in American History classes.
