After nearly a decade-long wait, the GTA 6 trailer has been released. It didn’t disappoint, but it’s also chock-full of tiny details worth looking at more closely.

At one minute and 30 seconds exactly, you’d think there’d only be a limited number of hints and details Rockstar Games would be able to cram into the debut GTA 6 trailer. However, as has been made abundantly clear since the GTA 6 trailer leaked early – forcing Rockstar to publish it hours ahead of the initial GTA 6 trailer release date it set out – we’ve been poring over all of its frames to pick out hints, big and small, about what’s to come.

If you’re wondering about all the GTA 6 trailer Easter Eggs, secrets and other minor hints you may have missed, we’re here to help you pick them out. From returning brands and cars, to cheeky nods to some of pop culture’s most celebrated memes, here are all of the details we’ve seen that you may have missed when watching the GTA 6 trailer.

GTA 6 trailer detail – dogs are confirmed

It’s extremely early on, during a beach shot seen at 0:22 to be exact, where we get confirmation that dogs will be returning to GTA 6. Of course, this isn’t too surprising seeing as one of GTA 5’s main protagonists, Franklin, had a close bond with his dog Chop – to the point that he could be used to chase perps down in main missions or simply walked as part of side missions.

In the GTA 6 trailer specifically, though, the dog seen running down the beach alongside its owner appears to be a Chihuahua, indicating that the game will feature breeds a lot smaller in size than what we saw with Franklin’s Rottweiler. Rockstar is yet to confirm whether you’ll be able to pet the dogs, but we’re pretty certain that this will be the case.

GTA 6 trailer detail – customizable cars with vinyl and stickers

As one of the first true open-world games to let you jump into any vehicle you see, it’s no secret just how important the cars in a GTA game are. GTA 6 thankfully looks to be no different either, as evidenced by sights like the iconic Cheetah glimpsed on the strip at the 0:32 mark, which returns from 2002’s original GTA: Vice City. Other returning cars confirmed include the Bravado Buffalo, Sea Sparrow, Sabre Turbo, and more.

The GTA 6 trailer also strongly hints that players will be able to customise these famous Vice City vehicles this time, too. As seen at the 0:52 mark of the GTA 6 trailer, the green pickup truck displays what looks to be a vinyl logo for a company called Rideout Customs, which looks to be where you’ll have to take your vehicle for specific decals and stickers.

GTA 6 trailer detail – Vice City’s home state confirmed

The GTA 6 trailer confirms that the wider state in which Vice City sits is called Leonida. And since Vice City itself is heavily inspired by the real-life Miami, we can assume that Leonida is Rockstar’s cheeky wink at Florida. There are multiple hints in the GTA 6 trailer towards this; first at 0:50 where a naked running man is filmed from an account called 'PlanetLeonidaMan', and then immediately after at 0:51 where another account films a wild biker dude with the caption "Only in Leonida".

This confirms that GTA 6 will feature a map far larger than the one we got to explore originally in GTA Vice City. If anything, it’ll expand upon this original location in a similar way that GTA 5’s Los Santos did compared to 2004’s GTA: San Andreas. Kelly County, Catalan Boulevard, Stockyard Downtown are all locations that can be glimpsed on road signs, strongly hinting there’s more to explore.

GTA 6 trailer detail – multiple food and fashion brands return

Just in case it wasn’t already apparent that this is in fact the same GTA universe many of us have visited before, the GTA 6 trailer confirms multiple returning food and fashion brands. German beer brand Pisswasser is back, for instance, this time with a non-alcoholic option in the form of Pisswasser Nein as confirmed by a sign on the left at 1:09. Arguably the biggest, however, comes at 0:38 when a supermodel clearly turns to show off her Sessanta Nove bikini.

Finally, another familiar alcohol brand from the GTA universe is confirmed to return in Patriot beer, sporting a slightly new logo when glimpsed on a truck at the early 0:02 mark. Patriot beer was first introduced in 2008’s GTA 4, which took place in Liberty City, then GTA 5’s Los Santos. GTA 6, therefore, looks to complete its appearance across all three familiar locales.

GTA 6 trailer detail – ankle monitor could restrict travel

The main character we’re introduced to throughout the GTA 6 trailer is Lucia, a Latina woman who clearly isn’t averse to having some run-ins with the law. At the start she’s seen talking to her parole officer while wearing an orange prison jumpsuit, very similar to the one we see Claude wearing at the start of GTA 3. In the accompanying poster featured in Rockstar’s tweet, Lucia is also seen wearing an ankle bracelet.

Fans have therefore speculated that this ankle bracelet could be Rockstar’s way of restricting how far Lucia is able to travel early on in the game. After all, Rockstar open-worlds tend to open up relatively slowly as part of the main storyline, so this could be a cool, in-universe way for GTA 6’s Leonida to be no different.

GTA 6 trailer detail – no meme is safe from parody

The GTA series is not one to stray away from satire. Heck, GTA 5 made it a mission to parody the likes of Google, reality TV shows like Pop Idol and more by way of ridiculous objectives and locations. GTA 6 appears to be no different, as evidenced by the winks to real-life Florida antics sprinkled throughout the GTA 6 trailer. Most of these take the shape of filmed footage.

The first comes at 0:43 as we see an animal tamer struggling to get an alligator out of the pool, while the brief shot of a nude gentleman watering his garden at 0:54 is a definite nod to the 2018 Florida Man news reports. The lady wielding two hammers who exclaims “look who’s back” at 0:57, meanwhile, is a callback to the Chatsworth woman who went viral back in 2020 for hitting her neighbour’s car. All these real-life winks prove that GTA 6 aims to still be topical in its satire.

GTA 6 trailer detail – the trailer’s song has meaning

Last, but not least, is of course the song playing throughout the GTA 6 trailer, which is none other than Tom Petty’s 1989 hit Love is a Long Road. While possibly teasing players for the 'long road' it’s been getting to GTA 6, the lyrics could also strongly hint at the journey Lucia and her still yet-to-be-named male companion are set to go on.

The song talks of a girl who “said she cared” about the singer, trying to “make [his] world, the way she thought it should be”. In other words, Lucia isn’t one for letting the world pass her by, and therefore is probably destined to grab whatever opportunities Vice City has in store for her regardless of how she goes about doing it. It helps that Petty himself is a native to Florida, all but solidifying his approval for what appears to be a Bonnie and Clyde style story.
