Starting Point of the Hike Bagaggera
The best way to get there is by car. The nearest train station is in Cernusco Lombardone, which is about 1.5 hours away on foot. We chose the small settlement of Bagaggera as the starting point. There is a parking lot here and the farmers have set up a small farm shop where you can buy cheese and vegetables from your own production.
Along Cipressi to the Pyramids
The first pyramid is in the south. A cypress path leads up to the top. On the second, the middle pyramid, there is a clearing on the top. It was probably used as an astronomical observatory. At the top is a block of granite measuring 7 x 1.5 meters. This indicates an old sanctuary that is aligned along the north-south axis. This pyramid is called Belvedere Cereda due to the beautiful all-round view. The third pyramid is covered with an oak forest.
Montevecchia Alta
Montevecchia can be seen from afar with the pilgrimage church of the Beata Vergine del Carmelo on the highest point of the village. From the balcony of Montevecchia you have a view of the Po Valley and can see the entire skyline of Milan with the high-rise buildings Porta Nuova and Tre Torri. A delicate wine is grown on the pyramid-shaped slopes. The products of the region can be bought in the village in a small shop. In the park of Montevecchia, settlements were found that date from the Neanderthals and are probably up to 60,000 years old.
The Mystery of the Pyramids of Montevecchia
There are three pyramids with a height of 40 to 50 meters and an incline of exactly 44 degrees. are not the same size, but are similar to Giza in terms of their arrangement and astronomical orientation.
Researchers assume that these hills were created by humans. The exact age cannot yet be said exactly. The Italian pyramids are positioned in a straight line from the three central stars of the constellation Orion. The pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos pyramids are arranged in the same way. The architect Vincenzo di Gregorio has no doubt that the pyramids are man-made. Since they were overgrown and cultivated with vines, the pyramids appear at first glance like hills. The hypothesis was confirmed by astronomer and astrophysicist Adriano Gaspani. Measurements showed that the pyramids were sanctuaries that were used to determine lunar cycles and eclipses. Archaeological studies show that the Celts lived in Italy around the 7th century BC. The first forms of agriculture emerged about 11,000 years ago. Scientists conclude that the pyramids of Montevecchia could have been built 3 to 10,000 years ago.
