We have finally come to our eternal home in the last two chapters of the Bible. What a way to end! What a future for those who "drink of the water" (22:17) by trusting in Jesus Christ, the focal point of the book of Revelation and the entire Bible. their kind, and everything that creeps

58. New Jerusalem = The Church?
The city is described as a "bride beautifully
dressed for her husband" (21:2; see also vv.
9-10). Since the term "bride" often refers to
the church (Isa. 54:5; Eph. 5:32; etc.), it would
seem so here too (Hendriksen, 199). "Even in
the Old Testament the Church is represented
under the symbolism of a city (Isa. 26:1; Ps.
48; etc.)" (Hendriksen, 199).
59. The New Jerusalem
455
1. The church is never
called the bride of
Christ in the NT.
2. Verses 9-10 denote
the "bride" or "wife"
as the new
Jerusalem itself—
not the church
60. "Then one of the seven
angels who held the seven
bowls containing the seven
last plagues came and said to
me, 'Come with me! I will
show you the bride, the wife
of the Lamb'" (21:9 NLT).
61. The City Descending
(21:10-11 NLT)
"So he took me in the Spirit to a great, high
mountain, and he showed me the holy city,
Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God.
11It shone with the glory of God and sparkled like
a precious stone—like jasper as clear as crystal."

63. New Jerusalem Citizens
"But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city
of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to
• myriads of angels,
• to the general assembly
• and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in
heaven,
• and to God, the Judge of all,
• and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect"
Hebrews 12:22-23 (NAU)
64. Everything New!
(21:5-7 NLT)
"And the one sitting on the throne said, 'Look, I
am making everything new!' And then he said to
me, 'Write this down, for what I tell you is
trustworthy and true.' 6And he also said, 'It is
finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the
Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I
will give freely from the springs of the water of
life. 7All who are victorious will inherit all these
blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be
my children.'"
65. Those Excluded
(21:8 NLT)
"But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt,
murderers, the immoral, those who practice
witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their
fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is
the second death."
72. The Gates & Walls
(21:12-13 NLT)
"The city wall was
broad and high, with
twelve gates
guarded by twelve
angels. And the
names of the twelve
tribes of Israel were
written on the gates.
13There were three
gates on each side—
east, north, south,
and west."
76. High Priest
Breastpiece
(Exod. 28:15-21 NIV)
15"Fashion a breastpiece for
making decisions…17Then
mount four rows of precious
stones on it. The first row shall
be carnelian, chrysolite and
beryl; 18the second row shall be
turquoise, lapis lazuli and
emerald; 19the third row shall be
jacinth, agate and amethyst;
20the fourth row shall be topaz,
onyx and jasper. Mount them in
gold filigree settings. 21There are
to be twelve stones, one for
each of the names of the sons of
Israel, each engraved like a seal
with the name of one of the
twelve tribes.
77. "God's People: Close to His Heart - Forever
In the strange world of the Bible, God's people are
likened to jewels.
http://richardwalkerblogs.blogspot.sg/2010/12/gods-people-close-to-his-heart-forever.html
In the Old Testament, the High Priest would wear a
breastpiece on which was mounted 12 jewels. He
would carry these precious stones with him into the
Holy of Holies in the Tabernacle / Temple close to his
heart.
In the New Jerusalem, the walls are made of the very
same jewels found on the High Priest's breastpiece.
They now surround the dwelling place of God,
gathered from the four corners of the globe and they
will stay there, in the new creation, in the presence
of God."
78. Gates from a Single Pearl (21:21 NLT)!
"The twelve gates were made of pearls—each gate
from a single pearl! And the main street was pure
gold, as clear as glass."
79. It will be lit by the glory of God
(21:22-27)!
