The battle that raged in and around Placenoit on the afternoon of June 18th 1815 was some of the most fierce fighting of the Napoleonic era. Back and forth the battle went with the Prussians capturing the village only to be thrown out again several times over. In order to shore up his beleagured right flank, Napoleon first commited Lobau's Corps, then the Young Guard, and finally elements of the Old Guard, such was the importantance that this bulwark hold out. The images below depict the bitter street fighting and show the Old Guard Chasseurs engaged with the Prussian 11th (2nd Silesian) Line Infantry. The Old Guard Chasseurs and Prussians are now available and the buildings and wall set as shown in the images are coming very soon.
