embodiments only and is not Intended to be limiting of the treatment. As used herein, the singular forms %* "an" and "the" are intended to Include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly Indicates otherwise. Furthermore, to the extent that the terms "including;1 ncludes/ "having," "has," "with," or variants thereof are used in either the detailed description and/or the claims, such terms are intended to be inclusive In a manner similar to the term "comprising,"
As shown in Figs, 1 -13, a kit 10 for in situ blending of custom perfume blends is described. The kit 10 can include a plurality of dispensers 20, where each dispenser 20 contains a different fragrance composition 30. Although the dispensers 20 on the left of Fig, 1 are transparent so that the fragrance composition 30 is visible, the dispensers 20 can also be opaque, such as those on the right side of Fig. 1. The kit 10 can also include Instructions 40 for using the kit 10. The instructions 40 can Include a plurality of different perfume recipes, Each perfume recipe can include applying at least two of the fragrance compositions on a location of a wearer to produce a perfume blend at the location ( .e,, in situ perfume blending ).
I some embodiments, the location is a particular portion of th skin of the wearer. For example, the fragrance compositions can be applied to a location such as, but not limited tos the wrist, the neck, the arm and the torso. in some embodiments, the dispensers can be roil-on , spray on, dropper-style, wand applicator, or other dispenser styles. As shown in Fig, 1 , the dispensers 20 ca be roll-on dispensers. Each roll-on dispenser 20 can include a roller ball 50 and a cap 80, In some embodiments, the perfume recipes instruct the user to apply at least one stroke of at least two different fragrance compositions to the location in a specific order. Examples of such perfume recipes include, but ar hot limited to, the recipes show in Figs. 4-13,
In some embodiments, the Instructions 40 can include general instructions for blending the perfume compositions. For example, FIG. 2 provides instructions for activating each rollerfoali on a piece of smooth paper so that the fragrance composition {or "oil") will be applied to the skin evenly and smoothly. The instructions 0, as well as the perfume recipes included therein, can include applying each perfume using strokes on a particular location of the wearer. For example, Fig. 2 shows thai each stroke can foe a swirl (i.e., full circle or oval) and can be applied to the wrist of the user. In other embodiments, the strokes can foe any appropriate shape such as, but not limited to, a line (Fig. 3(a)), a curve (Fig. 3(b)), or a polygon {e.g., triangle, square, pentagon, hexagon, etc.).
The perfume recipes can provide details about how to produce a desired perfume blend. The details In the perfume recipes can include, but are not limited to which fragrance compositions to apply, the amount of each fragrance composition to apply , and the order to apply each fragrance composition,. In order to control the ratio of the different fragrance compositions applied as part of a perfume recipe, the amount of each fragrance composition to apply can be provided in a number of discrete amounts. Example of discrete amounts include, but are not limited to, strokes, swirls and pumps (for spray applicators), Thus, applying two swirls of fragrance composition 1 and one swirl of fragrance composition 2 should produce a 2:1 ratio of fragrance compositions 1 and 2.
In some embodiments, the kit can include dispensers that dispense different amounts of fragrance composition per dispensing action (per stroke or per pump), while the kit can include dispensers thai dispense the same amounts of fragrance composition per dispensing action in other embodiments. For example, at least two roll- on dispensers or at least three roll-on dispensers can have different sized roller-balls. Similarly, at least two spray-on dispensers or at least three spray-on dispensers can dispense different volumes of fragrance composition per pump. This enables the designer to achieve larger ratios of fragrance compositions without dispensing too much fragrance composition on the user.
In some embodiments, the instructions can suggest that the strokes of the fragrance compositions are applied in curved strokes, such as arcs, ellipses, or circles (or swirls). In some embodiments, the instructions can suggest that the strokes be equal in size. This can he expressly stated or can be inherent In the instructions to apply the perfume fragrance using strokes of the same shape. For example, as part, of the development of the kits described herein, it was learned that swirls (one foil circle) are helpful for controlling the ratio of th different fragrance compositions that is dispensed because the user vM make circles of approximately the same size (radius and/or circumference). Instructions to apply the fragrance compositions in other shapes, such as triangles, squares, ellipses, etc,,, could be used for a similar effect, but the inventors have found swirls .( ., circles) to h highly reproducible.
I some embodiments, the Instructions 40 can include finishing steps for completing application of the perfume blend. For example, Fig. 2 includes instructions to rub the wrists together to finish the blending process. Similarly, the wrists can be rubbed against other areas of the body (e.g., the neck) should the wearer want the perfume blend elsewhere on their body.
In some embodiments, the dispensers 20 are roll-on dispensers, and at least one of the perfume recipes comprises applying at least one stroke of at least three different fragrance compositions to the location in a specific order, Examples of such perfume recipes include the perfume recipes shown in Figs. 4-7 and 11-12. For example, the "Cabana" perfume blend of Fig, 4 is produced by applying two swirls of a first fragrance composition f 'Floral No. 05"}, followed by four swirls of second fragrance composition (Ocean No. 09s) : followed by two swirls of a third fragrance composition ("Citrus Ho. 10"). As shown in Figs. 4-9, each perfume recipe can include a description of the resulting blend.
in some embodiments, the dispensers 20 are roil-on dispensers, and at least one of the perfume recipes comprises applying at least one stroke of at least four different fragrance compositions to the location In a specific order. An example of such a perfume recipe is a variation of the "Marmalade* perfume blend of Fig, 7 produced by applying two swirls of a first fragrance composition ("Spice No. 07"), followed by two swirls of second fragrance composition ("Citru No. 10"), followed by two swirls of a third fragrance composition ("Floral No. 01"), followed by a swirl of a fourth fragrance composition (for example, "Floral No. 0SK), instead of another swirl of Citrus No, 10.
In some embodiments, each of the plurality of perfume recipes includes applying at least two different fragrance compositions In order from strongest scent to weakest scent The Inventors have learned that this approach, in combination with the in situ roll-on application of fragrances, results in the perfume blends with the fullest depth of fragrance.
In some embodiments, the kit includes at least three fragrance compositions contained in separate dispensers. In other embodiments, the kit can Include at least five fragrance compositions contained in different dispensers, In still other
