- My present invention, in its broad aspect, has reference to improvements n conta ners and dispensing means therefonwhereby the combustible fluid used in cigarand cigarette lighters may be put-up, stored, shipped andpreserved by the user, and handily dispensed from the container directly into the cigar and cigarette lighter without danger of spilling-the fluid, or ignitingit, or soiling the use in conjunction with a number of con:
ta-inerswhich are replaced as the fluid is used up, and since the dispensing attachment is ordinarily given away with an initial purchase or sold for a relatively small sum its design is such that it may be manufactured in quantities at a relatively small cost. Furthermore, there is nothing about my dispensing device to become out-of-order or broken, or a to become clogged up or inoperative through continued use, and it is especially adapted for use with cigar lighter fluid since it will accurately direct a relatively small stream of fluidinto a small opening such asis found in the filling opening of a cigar lighter; it also is so constructed that it prevents evaporation of the lighter fluid.
My container, on the other hand is of the type ordinarily employed with fluid having a low flash point, i. c. it is of metal and is sealed. The nozzle thereof is relatively small, and is carried by the filling cap; so that the container has the filling cap, and the nozzle on the cap, and the nozzle is provided with an adapter so that a capmay be used to close and seal it, and my dispenser mounted there- Other and equally important objects and advantages of my invention will become apparent as the description proceeds, but while I have in the present instance defined for the sake of illustration a certain specific form of my dispensing container, it will be understood that I do not desire to limit myself except as may be indicated by'the scope of the claim appended hereto and forming a part of this specification.

In the drawings wherein like characters of reference are used throughout the several views to designate like or similar parts a The numeral (1) designates mycontainer which is formed of metal and is sealed so that cigar lighter. fluidwhich has a'relatively low flash point may be storedtherein. The container (1) has a top (2) with a cylindrical mouth (3) for filling the same and a cover '(4) which carries the long, tapered nozzle (5).
The mouth of the nozzle (5) is interiorly screwthreaded as at (6) to receive either a cap (7 or a dispensing attachment (8). The cap (7) has a screwthreaded portion (9) and a knurled portion (10). The idispensing attachment, which may be used with the nozzle in place of the cap, has a screwthreaded portion (11) and a hollow shank (12) upon the upper end of which is carried the bulb (13) to build up a head of. pressure inthe container. In the hollow portion of the shank (12) is carried a tube (14) which extends almost to the bottomof the container as shown in dotted lines in Figure 1,'and the tube is braised, soldered or otherwise attached to the inner wall (15) of the shank'as shown in Figure 2.
The upper portion of the tube (14) is bent out and down as shown at (1,6) and extends through an opening (17 in the shank above the enlargement (18) thereof. Accordingly it will be seen that the enlargement (18) reinforces the opening (17) in the shank and provides, as well, a finger grip. The top (2) of the container (1)see Figure 4-is formed with a rim 2 therearound so that any fluid dropping upon the top of the can will evaporate and will not spill upon a tabletop or the like. The member (5 or nozzle, may
be screwthreadedly engaged with-an1pple (4) of the cover (4:), as shown in Figure 1, or it may be welded thereon. In operation the tube 1 1 is sealed when not in use'by condensation of the fluid therein.
When it is desired to dispense fluid from V the container (1) the cap (7) is removed and the dispensingattachment (8) mounted/on the nozzle; the bulb (13) is then squeezed to build-up a head of pressure in the conteiner which causes the fluid to rise in and be dispensed from the thin walled tube (14) the mouth or bent portion (or curved portion) of the tube being inserted in the filling open ing of a cigar lighter. The small container shoivn in'Figuret is slightly different in constructionfsince the nozzle (19) thereof is shortened and exterior 1y screwthrezided as at (20) to receive an interiorly screwtlneadedcap (21) or the dispensing'attachment (22) which is similar, except for its means of attachment to the nozzle, and tothe dispensing attachment (8).
In order to adapt the relatively long tube (14) usually sold with theitypeof dispensing can shown in Figure 1 ,'to the relatively shal- 1ow dispensing can shown in Figure 4, it is simply clipped off to the proper length with apzur of scissors.
