STICKY FLY PAPER.
Application filed August 14, 1926.
Ordinary sticky llypaper consists of a sheet of manila or like paper coated With sticky material, a raised sealing clam of heavier adhesive being disposed around the tly-catching coating. The sticky material gives an effect much like varnish, and when this bright sheet becomes dotted With the carcasses of flies, it is repulsive, so that many persons will not have it. rlhe objectof the present invention is to overcome this defect and thereby increase the use of this eiiicient means of destroying the disease.- breeding house-iy.
This is accomplished by providing the sheet with a' design or" such character and color or shading as to render the flies un noticeable or inconspicuous.
In the accompanying drawings forming parthereof:
Figure l is a plan vieuv of a sheet of sticky llypaper embodying the invention, sonic dead flies being shown upon its surface; and
Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2 2 thereof.
The paper sheet 2 is provided With the usual sticky coating 8 inside the raised sealing dam L1.
The face of the sheet, or at least that por- SeIial No. 129,250.
tion thereof which is covered by the coating 3, is printed or otherwise provided with a Well-,covered design 5, the ground being dark or dull in color, or shaded. rThe design may be ornamental, and its function is, by its form and colors, in large measure to conceal or suppress the presence or iiies which have become entangled in the coating. A sheet of 'lypaper his kind can become Well lilled With flies Without at all producing the feeling of repugnance that is experienced on looking at the ordinary iypapcr which has been exposed in a room.
The design may cover the entire sheet, or the uncoated border 6 olf the sheet outside of the dam may be lelit blank or light in color7 as shown, to serve as a Warning to persons. Naturally, the specilic camoufiage design may be varied, as long as the flies become substantially hidden in the design.
claim:
Sticky fly-paper comprising a sheet coated with sticky material, the sheet having a design and coloring tending' to more or less conceal the presence of flies caught in the sticky material.
