On Wednesday night, Stephen Colbert addressed President Trump‘s announcement recognizing Jersalem as Israel’s capital and his plans to move the US embassy there in the near future.

“Yes, he recognized it in a speech, but I’m still pretty sure he couldn’t recognize it… on a map,” Colbert quipped.

The Late Show host explained the holiness of Jerusalem and how “every inch” is disputed between Israelis and Palestinians that they had to “draw a line down the middle of a six-piece Chicken McNuggets at the Jerusalem McDonalds” and that they’re “still fighting over the Gaza Chicken Strip.”

He poked fun at Trump’s remarks how acknowledging Jerusalem as Israel’s capital is a “recognition of reality.”

“Why start now?” Colbert reacted.

Colbert then took a moment to laugh at Trump’s mishap with his dentures during his speech and said he was “looking forward” to his State of the Union address. He also mocked Trump’s executive order that would advance the transition of moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

“He then signed the order that would further divide Muslims and Jews… surrounded by Christmas trees,” Colbert continued, followed by singing “Peace talks roasting on an open fire.”

He listed several from around the world who opposed Trump’s decision, including France,

China, Russia, Germany, the UK, and Pope Francis.

“I never thought I would say this, but Donald Trump is really bringing the whole world together,” Colbert joked.

Colbert also cited that Palestinians had declared “three days of rage” and when that’s done, they’ll go back to their normal “weeks of seething.”
