Nokia N800 in iPhone Makeover Madness

Resourceful Brazilian programmer Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri has put together a workable version of the iPhone's virtual keyboard for the Nokia N800. It took a week to whip up the Python script, which uses Edje for the graphical flourish, and as you can see in the video below, it's a pretty good "homage", if a little basic at the moment: No predictive word completion, no cursor navigation and no accents on letters.

Then again, the iPhone is missing Copy and Paste, so we won't nit-pick.

Another YouTube video (again from Brazil) shows an N800 using a version of the finger-flick scrolling found on Apple's baby. Again, a nice demo, and as close as Brazilians are likely to get to an iPhone for a little while. Really, though, it reminds me of the fad to modify Windows to look like OS X. You get the eye candy, but it's only skin deep.
