While celebrities have been more open than ever about the problems and injustices of Hollywood, many sexist and misogynistic issues are still very much present to this day. Older actresses, for example, have been open about how little options they get the older they become. For Elizabeth Hurley, who’s been in the industry for many decades now, has felt that first-hand.
But, while she might struggle to find a role as multi-dimensional as herself, her 22-year-old son Damian Hurley offered her a role in his upcoming movie Strictly Confidential she couldn’t say no to. “This was the best part that could’ve come for somebody of my age,” she told her son in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I had great things to do and I wasn’t just sort of doing mommy stuff.”

Damian, who’s the writer and director for the movie, agreed. “No baking apple pies in aprons in this,” he added. “I did not,” she replied.
In addition to complementing her son’s writing, the mother-son duo also set the record straight and brushed off any awkwardness in filming the steamy scene in the movie with her son behind the camera. “I mean, we didn’t really have time to [think about it],” he said. “All that’s going on in your mind is ‘Oh my God, how are we gonna make the day? We’re losing the light!'”
“It was the last thing on our minds,” Elizabeth added.
Previously, Damian reiterated that filming the scene wasn’t as awkward or creepy as everyone made it out to be. “I hate to say that it felt totally normal. I don’t know what that says about us,” he told The Sunday Times. “I was speaking to a lot of my friends who are also second generation of parents in the industry. They say exactly the same thing: that things to outsiders that may seem totally strange and extraordinary, for us we’ll just have grown up with in everyday life.”
