This year, the media took a step back into the 90s when Posh and Becks were all the rage.

From the “It” couple’s meet-cute and lavish wedding, to the birth of their first son Brooklyn, everything we know about David and Victoria Beckham was rehashed, with juicy new revelations drawn from this year’s release of the family’s Netflix docuseries Beckham.

But, old dramas aside, the couple and their children – Brooklyn, 24; Romeo, 21; Cruz, 18 and Harper, 12 – celebrated some major milestones this year.

From the success of Victoria’s namesake fashion label, to the settlement of Brooklyn’s messy wedding lawsuit, here is a recap of what the year 2023 looked like for the all-conquering Beckhams.

David, now 48, won many trophies and captained England at three international tournaments during his career.

His son Romeo is seemingly on the same path. Last season, he joined Premier League club Brentford on a six-month loan from Inter Miami, a Major League Soccer club co-owned by his dad.

2. The Nicola Peltz/Brooklyn Beckham wedding lawsuit

Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham tied the knot in April 2022.

The US$3.5 million ceremony was the wedding of the year, but unfortunately it led to an ugly court battle between the bride’s billionaire father, Nelson Peltz, and wedding planners Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba.

The billionaire sued the wedding planners last December for refusing to return a US$159,000 deposit after they were fired nine days into the job.

Braghin and Grijalba fired a countersuit in February of this year, but the drama has since been put to rest.

According to People, in September this year, the parties released a joint statement that the legal battle has at long last come to an end.

3. Victoria Beckham makes a profit for the first time

Victoria, 49, proudly announced in October this year that her namesake fashion and beauty brand finally turned a profit for the first time since its launch in 2008.

According to British media, the business has borrowed close to US$38 million from the Beckham empire to stay afloat over the past 15 years.

During Paris Fashion Week earlier this year, the Victoria Beckham show was easily one of the most anticipated. The spring/summer 2024 womenswear runway drew a star-studded guest list including the likes of Anna Wintour, Kim Kardashian, Pamela Anderson and more in the front row.

4. Beckham, the documentary

There was little that created a bigger buzz than the premiere of the 2023 Netflix documentary series Beckham in September.

The four-part documentary follows the rise of David’s professional career, from his first games to the unforgettable red card during the England vs Argentina World Cup match in 1998.

The series was filmed over two years and gave viewers an in-depth view of several key moments in the life of the former professional footballer.

It unfortunately also prompted the rehashing of the English football player’s rumoured infidelity with his former personal assistant Rebecca Loos.

5. David Beckham pulls off “the biggest moves in American sporting history”

David, who co-owns Inter Miami CF with Jorge Mas, pulled off the biggest signing in the history of Major League Soccer by bringing 2022 World Cup champion Lionel Messi to Inter Miami this year.

The plan to bring the Argentinian football legend to Inter Miami had been 10 years in the making, David revealed in an interview with The Athletic.

“Bringing Leo Messi to Inter Miami, to MLS, the year after he wins the World Cup, to a team that is three years old … it’s a hell of an achievement,” he said.

The decision has already paid off. Messi’s early-season goalscoring form helped the team win the Leagues Cup in August, earning Miami its first title in club history.
