If you’ve become fatigued by the chunky 2018-revives-1990 dad sneaker zeitgeist, then feast your eyes on the Balenciaga Track Trainer, which is a dad trainer with spinning rims on it. In the spirit of justifying an $850 sneaker, Spanish design house Balenciaga went berserk on the features list. There’s a massive crash pad fit to slow the pronation of a gorilla and overlays on overlays on overlays—did we mention the overlays? Balenciaga doesn’t list a weight for the aptly named “Track Trainer,” but we don’t expect them to weigh less than a Cadillac.

Anxious consumers literally fought over last year’s $895 Balenciaga Triple S casual trainer, and there’s no indication the Track Trainer will be received any differently. If all that sounds ridiculous, then perhaps the Track Trainer isn’t for you. But if you’ve got to have a nine-piece layered sole, double laces, and the name “Balenciaga” embroidered and embossed ad infinitum, then by all means buy a pair so the rest of us can see what the Pimp My Ride of sneakers looks like in real life.
