Acrylic hats can be machine washed and dried (those with poms should still be hand washed and air dried)

Cotton, wool, merino, and other natural fibers are best hand washed and laid flat to dry.

Gift wrapping is available with a furoshiki style reusable cloth. You can select this option in the listing or at checkout.

All orders are wrapped in recycled tissue paper and mailed in a compostable parcel (you can get one more use out of the parcel if you choose!)

The yarn vendors I typically purchase from are We Are Knitters and Malabrigo.

Malabrigo uses natural and cruelty-free wool. Their wool is hand dyed and OEKO-TEX certified, they employ local artisan women for fair wages in a clean and safe environment.

We Are Knitters uses all natural or recycled materials for their yarn and their supplies/packaging. Their yarn is also cruelty-free and OEKO-TEX certified. Their emphasis is on slow fashion to encourage less waste in the fashion industry.

My paper materials are made from recycled Kraft paper, and all items are shipped in reusable compostable mailers.

You raise a good point. While I choose not to purchase synthetic yarns, sometimes they are donated to me. I will still use them for the following reasons:

Choosing what is best for our Earth is not always linear. My intuition suggests that it is better for synthetic yarn to end up an item that keeps someone warm than to be unused and tossed into a landfill.

While most people agree that wool is superior in terms of moisture wicking and warmth, it is also more difficult to maintain. Acrylic yarns are easily washed and dried, and that can be an advantage too, especially for our unsheltered friends.

Acrylic yarns provide an inclusive alternative for those who have wool allergies.
