In March, we reported that writer/director David Koepp had set up his next thriller, working this time with the Blumhouse team, and adapting a book brought to him by the man who will star in the film, Kevin Bacon. Amanda Seyfried will now be joining Bacon in the cast.

Koepp adapted Daniel Kehlmann's tome, which tells of a scriptwriter who heads to an isolated house in the Alps with his wife – Seyfried, playing an actress who harbours a secret – and daughter so he can focus on working on a sequel to the big hit movie he wrote.

So far, so a little like The Shining, and it goes further, per the synopsis: "Mistrust and suspicion characterize their marriage while they are in a remote location that may or may not be obeying all the physical laws of the universe." No one go picking up axes, okay? And if it has a maze, stay away!

Shooting on this one will kick off later in the year. Seyfried is back on screens this summer in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, due out on 20 July.
