Lea Michele has deleted her Twitter as the search continues for her Glee costar Naya Rivera, who went missing following a boat ride with her son. Lea recently got a ton of backlash from fans who were upset that she hadn’t spoken out about Naya’s disappearance—especially since so many other Glee stars have asked their followers to pray for Naya’s safe return.
But the backlash over Lea’s silence has included some pretty awful tweets—including death threats—which some fans think is the reason she deleted the app. The actress’s name even started trending on Twitter, which many people felt took focus away from the search for Naya.
FYI, the deactivation of Lea’s account comes several weeks after members of the Glee cast revealed her pattern of racist behavior on-set. In a statement posted to Instagram, Lea said she “doesn’t remember” the instances on-set but she “clearly acted in ways which hurt other people.” She went on to claim she will do “better in the future from this experience.”
Lea had been almost entirely silent on social media since posting this statement back in June, although according to Us Weekly, she shared a picture of her pregnant belly during a hike on July 3.
