The Skins star says she based her character for Guy Ritchie's series on the 'dodgy' families of her childhood friends.

Kaya Scodelario has admitted she based her underworld crime ring boss character for The Gentlemen on the "dodgy" families she knew growing up.
The Skins star plays Ray Winstone's character's daughter in a new Netflix series spin-off of Guy Ritchie's film of the same name and said she loved playing a woman "at the top of her game".
Scodelario told The One Show about the surprising inspiration behind her new character, as well as the close friendships she still has with her old Skins co-stars.

Kaya Scodelario had to embrace a tough character on the wrong side of the law for her latest role in Guy Ritchie's TV series spin-off of his film The Gentlemen, but told The One Show on Wednesday that she knew exactly where to look for inspiration.
She plays Susie Glass, the boss of an underground cannabis empire and the daughter of kingpin Bobby Glass (Ray Winstone) in the new Netflix series.
Asked by host Alex Jones who she had based Susie on, Scodelario replied: "On kind of all the women I knew growing up. She's superb, when you meet her she's already at the top of her game, already the boss, good at what she does and unapologetic about it.
"It's loosely based on some of my friends from school had quite dodgy families, lovely families, but the dads were up to no good and the mums were the ones who knew what was going on and were in control."
Her The Gentlemen co-star Theo James plays Duke Eddie Horniman who has inherited a family estate above the weed factory and told The One Show what it was like working with acting hard men Winstone and Vinnie Jones.
James said they were "delicious teddy bears," adding: "We would cuddle and spoon. Ray is so lovely and the same with Vinnie, it's lovely to see him in this because we're used to him as a tough actor but he has a certain softness in this."

Scodelario first found fame in teen drama Skins as Effy, the younger sister of Nicholas Hoult's lead character Tony, and said she is still close to many of her old castmates.
"Most of us are really close, I'm lucky to call some of them my closest friends in the world," she said. "Last night was the premiere (of The Gentlemen) and Joe Dempsie was there, Klariza Clayton, Megan Prescott. We had a wonderful time on that job and most of us are very close, I'm very grateful for their friendship."
Meanwhile, James spoke about his time working on The White Lotus and what he knew about the forthcoming season three. He said: "It was a great gig and I'm looking forward to what they do in Thailand. Mike (White, creator) will probably subvert expectations in completely the opposite direction. It's a great show."
