Happy Obon!

Obon is a traditional Japanese Buddhist festival held annually to honor and remember the spirits of ancestors. It typically takes place in mid-August and involves various customs, including cleaning and decorating gravesites, creating lanterns to guide ancestral spirits back home, and participating in dance festivals known as “Bon Odori.” During Obon, it’s believed that the spirits of departed loved ones return to the earthly realm, and families come together to pay their respects through rituals, offerings, and communal celebrations. This festival holds deep cultural significance in Japan, fostering a sense of connection between the living and the deceased while celebrating the continuity of life.
