If you’ve already seen my post about the Top 5 Reasons to Visit Cordoba, Argentina (as well as my additional coverage), then you know that Argentina’s second-largest city has a lot to offer when it comes to history, culture and tourism in general.
In my recent feature article about Cordoba in Passport Magazine, I got to highlight yet another aspect of this multifaceted metropolis — namely, how the city’s role as an educational hub has helped make it a magnet for students from around the nation and abroad, which as a result has helped to imbue the region with a progressive attitude that bodes well for gay life.
As a gay tourism destination, Cordoba may forever be an also-ran compared to much-larger Buenos Aires, but as you can see in my article in Passport Magazine, the city still has lots to offer. The article features Cordoba travel information as well as interviews with local gay residents, including one half of a couple that just happened to be the second same-sex couple married since a new law made it legal in Argentina throughout 2010.
“Buenos Aires is the nation’s capital, so it is cosmopolitan and, as a major port, is open to the world,” Ugo Catalano, a photographer in Cordoba, tells me in the article. “Córdoba is the second-largest city in the country, and there is not as much gay life, since the population is smaller compared to Buenos Aires. Buenos Aires offers an immense number of possibilities that are gay or gay-friendly. Córdoba has less to offer, but it’s much friendlier.”
