Industry moves

In early 1989, Mullen quit his longtime sponsor, Powell-Peralta, to found a new brand dubbed World Industries with former freestyle rival Steve Rocco. They immediately released the classic skate video, "Rubbish Heap." It was the first time anyone had seen Mullen perform his freestyle tricks with momentum, as opposed to being stationary. In his video segment, teammate Jeremy Klein purposely snaps Mullen's freestyle deck, forcing him to skate a full-size skateboard. That moment closed the door on Mullen's freestyle skating and cemented him as the greatest street skater ever.
