本发明实施例提供的上述电润湿显示面板没有设置专门的电介质层, 而 是将反光导电元件 4设置于第一玻璃基板的背向第二玻璃基板的表面上, 利 用玻璃基板本身亦具有电介质材料的特性, 将第一玻璃基板兼作电介质层。 然后利用反光导电元件控制腔室内的导电着色液体的光透过率, 并将透过导 电着色液体的光朝着第二玻璃基板反射出去, 以实现显示的目的。 由于平整 度较好的第一玻璃基板不会像现有电润湿显示面板中的电介质层那样容易出 现厚度不均匀, 因此, 本发明实施例提供的上述电润湿显示面板不易产生显 示差异, 显示效果较好。
如图 2A所示, 导电着色液体 30可具体实施为透明极性液体 31与着色 非极性液体 32的混合液体。 着色非极性液体 32的颜色较佳地为黑色; 腔室 内的透明极性液体 31与着色非极性液体 32的比例可根据需要设定。优选地, 腔室内透明极性液体与着色非极性液体的体积相等。透明极性液体可以是水、 NaCl或者 KC1等的透明水溶液; 着色非极性液体可以是溶有有色颜料(优 选为黑色) 的硅油等油状物。
如图 2A所示, 上述电润湿显示面板还可包括:
疏水层 5, 设置于导电着色液体 30与第一玻璃基板 1之间; 疏水层 5可 用聚四氟乙烯等低表面能疏水材料制作。
当反光导电元件 4上没有施加电压时, 反光导电元件 4上的电荷量约为 零, 此时, 由于疏水层的疏水性,使得疏水层被着色非极性液体 32全部覆盖 而不被透明极性液体 31 (例如透明水溶液)润湿(如图 2A所示) , 所以, 此时不会有光线或者仅较少量的光线照射到反光导线器件上, 反光导电元件 也不会反射光或者仅反射较少量的光。 而当反光导电元件上有施加一定程度 的电压时, 反光导电元件上的电荷量达到一定程度的非零值, 此时, 疏水层 5与导电着色液体 30的表面的润湿特性被改变为疏水层 5可以被透明极性液 体 31润湿。 因此, 透明极性液体 31可与疏水层 5接触, 着色非极性液体 32 被挤到了一旁(如图 2B所示)。 此时, 不仅增大了导电着色液体 30的光透 过率, 而且还露出了部分的反光导电元件 4。 透过导电着色液体 30的光照射 到反光导电元件 4的露出部分上再被该露出部分朝着第二玻璃基板的方向反 射出去, 以实现显示的目的; 如果第二玻璃基板上还设置有彩色滤光片, 那 么还可进一步实现彩色显示的目的。 例如, 可以通过调整反光导电元件 4上 施加电压的大小来控制反光导电元件上的电荷量的多少, 从而可以控制疏水 层被透明极性液体 31润湿区域的大小,进而控制反光导电元件 4反光的多少, 实现显示的多样性。
进一步地, 为了实现彩色显示的目的, 再如图 2A所示, 上述电润湿显 示面板还可包括:
彩色滤光片 6, 设置于导电着色液体 30与第二玻璃基板 2之间, 彩色滤 光片 6具有与腔室 3对应的子像素 61以及位于子像素 61左右两侧的黑矩阵 62, 如图 2A所示。
子像素 61可以是三原色或者其它多种颜色的子像素。当透过腔室 3内的 导电着色液体 30的光线被反光导电元件 4朝着第二玻璃基板 2反射时,反射 光线经过彩色滤光片的子像素 61 , 从而实现彩色显示的目的。
优选地, 反光导电元件 4可具体实施为薄膜晶体管的漏极 4;
再如图 2A所示,薄膜晶体管例如包括栅极 9、源极 8和能反光的漏极 4; 漏极 4, 形成于第一玻璃基板 1的背向第二玻璃基板 2的表面上, 与腔 室 3对应;
源极 8, 形成于第一玻璃基板 1的背向第二玻璃基板 2的表面上; 栅极 9, 形成于源极 8或漏极 4的背对第一玻璃基板 1的一侧。 在本实 施例中 , 栅极 9可形成于源极 8和漏极 4的下方。
例如, 源极 8和漏极 4到栅极 9之间依序设置有半导体层和源漏极保护 层(图 2A、 2B中将半导体层和源漏极保护层简单示意为一层) , 栅极 9的 上还可以设置有栅极保护层。
当栅极 9上没有施加电压时, 源极和漏极不导通, 漏极上的电荷量约为 零, 此时, 由于疏水层 5的疏水性,使得疏水层被着色非极性液体 32全部覆 盖而不被透明极性液体 31润湿,所以,此时不会有光线或者仅有较少量的光 线照射到漏极 9上, 漏极 9也不会反射光或仅反射较少量的光。 而当栅极 9 上施加有电压时, 源极和漏极导通, 此时漏极上的电荷量可达到一定程度的 非零值,从而导致疏水层 5与导电着色液体 30的表面的润湿特性被改变为疏 水层可以被透明极性液体润湿。在此情况下,透明极性液体 31朝下方的疏水 层 5靠近并与之接触, 着色非极性液体 32被挤到了一旁, 此时, 不仅增大了 导电着色液体 30的光透过率, 而且还露出了部分的漏极 4。 光线透过导电着 色液体 30照射到漏极 4的露出部分上并被漏极的露出部分朝着第二玻璃基板 的方向反射出去, 从而实现显示的目的; 如果第二玻璃基板 2上还设置有彩 色滤光片 6, 那么还可进一步实现彩色显示的目的。
另外, 优选地, 再如图 2A所示, 源极 8的上方还可形成有过孔, 该过 孔用来连接外围驱动电路。
对应本发明实施例提供的上述电润湿显示面板, 本发明实施例还提供一 种电润湿显示面板的制作方法, 如图 3所示, 包括以下步骤: 步骤 S31 : 在第一玻璃基板的第一表面上形成反光导电元件。
反光导电元件可具体实施为薄膜晶体管的漏极, 此时, 步骤 S31又可具 体包括以下步骤 Al -A2:
步骤 A1 :在第一玻璃基板的第一表面上形成源极和能反光的漏极,在源 极和漏极上形成半导体层, 在半导体层上形成源漏极保护层;
源极和漏极的材料可以是 A1或 Cu等单层金属,可以是 A1和 Nd等金属 的合金, 也可以是 Mo/Al等多层金属。 半导体层的材料可以是 IZO或 IGZO 等迁移率高的半导体材料。 源漏极保护层的材料可以是 SiNx、 Si02等无机钝 化层材料, 也可以是有机钝化层材料。
步骤 A2:在源极或者漏极的背对第一玻璃基板的一侧形成栅极,在栅极 上形成栅极保护层。
栅极的材料同源极和漏极的材料, 栅极保护层的材料同源漏极保护层的 材料。
另外, 在执行步骤 A2之后, 还可以在源极上形成过孔(可通过一次构 图工艺形成) , 该过孔用来连接外围驱动电路。
步骤 S32: 在第一玻璃基板的与第一表面相对的第二表面的上方形成与 反光导电元件对应的腔室。
可釆用绝缘树脂材料制作腔室。
步骤 S33: 在腔室内填充导电着色液体。
这里的导电着色液体可与前述相同, 因此不再进行详述。
优选地, 当导电着色液体为透明极性溶液与着色非极性液体的混合液体 时, 可在腔室内填充体积相等的透明极性溶液和着色非极性液体。
此时, 优选地, 在执行步骤 S32之前, 还可在第一玻璃基板的第二表面 上形成疏水层。 疏水层的材料可以是聚四氟乙烯等低表面能疏水材料。
步骤 S34:将第二玻璃基板与第一玻璃基板形成有腔室的一侧对盒封框; 上述反光导电元件用于根据施加电压控制腔室内的导电着色液体的光透过 率, 并将透过导电着色液体的光朝着第二玻璃基板反射出去。
进一步地, 为了实现彩色显示, 在执行步骤 S34之前, 还可在第二玻璃 基板的一表面上形成彩色滤光片; 此时, 步骤 S34可具体实施为: 将第二玻 璃基板形成有彩色滤光片的一侧与第一玻璃基板形成有腔室的一侧对盒封 框。
对盒封框是指对盒并用封框胶封好。
对盒封框之后, 还可以进行外围驱动电路的连接。 同前述, 这里不再详述。
本发明实施例提供的电润湿显示面板的制作方法, 不需专门制作电介质 层,而是将反光导电元件设置于第一玻璃基板的背向第二玻璃基板的表面上, 利用玻璃基板本身亦具有介电材料的特性,将第一玻璃基板兼用作电介质层, 然后利用反光导电元件控制腔室内的导电着色液体的光透过率, 并将透过导 电着色液体的光朝着第二玻璃基板反射出去, 从而实现显示的目的。 由于平 整度较好第一玻璃基板不会像现有电润湿显示面板中的电介质层那样容易出 示面板不易产生显示差异, 显示效果较好; 并且, 由于本发明实施例提供的 上述制作方法不需单独制作电介质层, 因此还缩短了电润湿显示面板的制程 时间, 节省了制作成本。
( 1 )一种电润湿显示面板, 包括:
第一玻璃基板;
第二玻璃基板, 与所述第一玻璃基板相对设置;
腔室, 设置于所述第一玻璃基板与所述第二玻璃基板之间;
导电着色液体, 填充在所述腔室内; 以及
反光导电元件, 设置于所述第一玻璃基板的背向所述第二玻璃基板的表 面上, 与所述腔室对应, 用于才艮据施加电压控制所述腔室内的导电着色液体 的光透过率, 并将透过所述导电着色液体的光朝着所述第二玻璃基板反射出 去。
( 2 )根据 ( 1 ) 的电润湿显示面板, 其中所述导电着色液体为透明极性 液体和着色非极性液体的混合液体。
( 3 )根据 ( 2 ) 的电润湿显示面板, 还包括: 疏水层, 设置于所述导电 着色液体与所述第一玻璃基板之间。 (4)根据 (1 ) - (3) 中任一项的电润湿显示面板, 还包括: 彩色滤光 片, 设置于所述导电着色液体与所述第二玻璃基板之间, 所述彩色滤光片具 有子像素, 所述子像素与所述腔室对应。
( 5 )根据 (1) - (3)中任一项的电润湿显示面板, 还包括薄膜晶体管, 所述薄膜晶体管包括栅极、 源极和能反光的漏极; 所述漏极, 形成于所述第 一玻璃基板的背向所述第二玻璃基板的表面上, 与所述腔室对应, 且用作所 述反光导电元件; 所述源极, 形成于所述第一玻璃基板的背向所述第二玻璃 基板的表面上; 所述栅极, 形成于所述源极或所述漏极的背向所述第一玻璃 基板的一侧。
(6)根据 (5) 的电润湿显示面板, 其中所述源极上形成有过孔。
(7)—种电润湿显示面板的制作方法, 包括:
在第一玻璃基板的第一表面上形成反光导电元件;
在所述第一玻璃基板的与所述第一表面相对的第二表面的上方形成与所 述反光导电元件对应的腔室;
在所述腔室内填充导电着色液体;
将第二玻璃基板与所述第一玻璃基板形成有所述腔室的一侧对盒封框; 所述反光导电元件用于根据施加电压控制所述腔室内的导电着色液体的 光透过率,并将透过所述导电着色液体的光朝着所述第二玻璃基板反射出去。
(8)根据 (7) 的制作方法, 其中, 所述导电着色液体为透明极性液体 和着色非极性液体的混合液。
(9)根据(8) 的制作方法, 还包括: 在所述第一玻璃基板的与第一表 面相对的第二表面的上方形成与所述反光导电元件对应的腔室之前, 在所述 第一玻璃基板的第二表面上形成疏水层。
(10)根据(7) - (9)中任一项的制作方法, 还包括: 在将第二玻璃基 板与所述第一玻璃基板形成有所述腔室的一侧对盒封框之前, 在所述第二玻 璃基板的一表面上形成彩色滤光片;
其中, 所述将第二玻璃基板与所述第一玻璃基板形成有所述腔室的一侧 对盒封框通过将所述第二玻璃基板形成有所述彩色滤光片的一侧与所述第一 玻璃基板形成有所述腔室的一侧对盒封框而执行。
(11)根据 (7) - (9) 中任一项的制作方法, 其中, 所述反光导电元件 为薄膜晶体管的漏极;
所述在所述第一玻璃基板的第一表面上形成反光导电元件, 包括: 在所述第一玻璃基板的第一表面上形成源极和能反光的漏极, 在所述源 极和漏极上形成半导体层, 在所述半导体层上形成源漏极保护层;
在所述源极或者所述漏极的背向所述第一玻璃基板的一侧形成栅极, 在 所述栅极上形成栅极保护层。
( 12 )根据 ( 11 ) 的制作方法, 还包括在所述源极或者所述漏极的背向 所述第一玻璃基板的一侧形成栅极, 在所述栅极上形成栅极保护层之后, 在 所述源极上形成过孔。
虽然上文中已经用一般性说明、 具体实施方式, 对本发明作了详尽的描 述, 但在本发明基础上, 可以对之作一些修改或改进, 这对本领域技术人员 而言是显而易见的。 因此, 在不偏离本发明精神的基础上所做的这些修改或 改进, 均属于本发明要求保护的范围。

Claims

权利要求书
1、 一种电润湿显示面板, 包括:
第一玻璃基板;
第二玻璃基板, 与所述第一玻璃基板相对设置;
腔室, 设置于所述第一玻璃基板与所述第二玻璃基板之间;
导电着色液体, 填充在所述腔室内; 以及
反光导电元件, 设置于所述第一玻璃基板的背向所述第二玻璃基板的表 面上, 与所述腔室对应, 用于才艮据施加电压控制所述腔室内的导电着色液体 的光透过率, 并将透过所述导电着色液体的光朝着所述第二玻璃基板反射出 去。
2、 如权利要求 1所述的电润湿显示面板, 其中
所述导电着色液体为透明极性液体和着色非极性液体的混合液体。
3、 如权利要求 2所述的电润湿显示面板, 还包括:
疏水层, 设置于所述导电着色液体与所述第一玻璃基板之间。
4、 如权利要求 1所述的电润湿显示面板, 还包括:
彩色滤光片, 设置于所述导电着色液体与所述第二玻璃基板之间, 所述 彩色滤光片具有子像素, 所述子像素与所述腔室对应。
5、 如权利要求 2所述的电润湿显示面板, 还包括:
彩色滤光片, 设置于所述导电着色液体与所述第二玻璃基板之间, 所述 彩色滤光片具有子像素, 所述子像素与所述腔室对应。
6、 如权利要求 3所述的电润湿显示面板, 还包括:
彩色滤光片, 设置于所述导电着色液体与所述第二玻璃基板之间, 所述 彩色滤光片具有子像素, 所述子像素与所述腔室对应。
7、如权利要求 1所述的电润湿显示面板,还包括薄膜晶体管, 所述薄膜 晶体管包括栅极、 源极和能反光的漏极;
所述漏极,形成于所述第一玻璃基板的背向所述第二玻璃基板的表面上, 与所述腔室对应, 且用作所述反光导电元件;
所述源极,形成于所述第一玻璃基板的背向所述第二玻璃基板的表面上; 所述栅极, 形成于所述源极或所述漏极的背向所述第一玻璃基板的一侧。
8、如权利要求 2所述的电润湿显示面板,还包括薄膜晶体管, 所述薄膜 晶体管包括栅极、 源极和能反光的漏极;
所述漏极,形成于所述第一玻璃基板的背向所述第二玻璃基板的表面上, 与所述腔室对应, 且用作所述反光导电元件;
所述源极,形成于所述第一玻璃基板的背向所述第二玻璃基板的表面上; 所述栅极, 形成于所述源极或所述漏极的背向所述第一玻璃基板的一侧。
9、如权利要求 3所述的电润湿显示面板,还包括薄膜晶体管, 所述薄膜 晶体管包括栅极、 源极和能反光的漏极;
所述漏极,形成于所述第一玻璃基板的背向所述第二玻璃基板的表面上, 与所述腔室对应, 且用作所述反光导电元件;
所述源极,形成于所述第一玻璃基板的背向所述第二玻璃基板的表面上; 所述栅极, 形成于所述源极或所述漏极的背向所述第一玻璃基板的一侧。
10、 如权利要求 7所述的电润湿显示面板, 其中
所述源极上形成有过孔。
11、 一种电润湿显示面板的制作方法, 包括:
在第一玻璃基板的第一表面上形成反光导电元件;
在所述第一玻璃基板的与所述第一表面相对的第二表面的上方形成与所 述反光导电元件对应的腔室;
在所述腔室内填充导电着色液体;
将第二玻璃基板与所述第一玻璃基板形成有所述腔室的一侧对盒封框; 其中, 所述反光导电元件用于才艮据施加电压控制所述腔室内的导电着色 液体的光透过率, 并将透过所述导电着色液体的光朝着所述第二玻璃基板反 射出去。
12、 如权利要求 11所述的制作方法, 其中,
所述导电着色液体为透明极性液体和着色非极性液体的混合液体。
13、 如权利要求 12所述的制作方法, 还包括:
在所述第一玻璃基板的与所述第一表面相对的第二表面的上方形成与所 述反光导电元件对应的腔室之前, 在所述第一玻璃基板的第二表面上形成疏 水层。
14、 如权利要求 11所述的制作方法, 还包括:
在将第二玻璃基板与所述第一玻璃基板形成有所述腔室的一侧对盒封框 之前, 在所述第二玻璃基板的一表面上形成彩色滤光片;
其中, 所述将第二玻璃基板与所述第一玻璃基板形成有所述腔室的一侧 对盒封框通过将所述第二玻璃基板形成有所述彩色滤光片的一侧与所述第一 玻璃基板形成有所述腔室的一侧对盒封框而执行。
15、如权利要求 12所述的制作方法,还包括: 在将第二玻璃基板与所述 第一玻璃基板形成有所述腔室的一侧对盒封框之前, 在所述第二玻璃基板的 一表面上形成彩色滤光片;
其中, 所述将第二玻璃基板与所述第一玻璃基板形成有所述腔室的一侧 对盒封框通过将所述第二玻璃基板形成有所述彩色滤光片的一侧与所述第一 玻璃基板形成有所述腔室的一侧对盒封框而执行。
16、如权利要求 13所述的制作方法,还包括: 在将第二玻璃基板与所述 第一玻璃基板形成有所述腔室的一侧对盒封框之前, 在所述第二玻璃基板的 一表面上形成彩色滤光片;
其中, 所述将第二玻璃基板与所述第一玻璃基板形成有所述腔室的一侧 对盒封框通过将所述第二玻璃基板形成有所述彩色滤光片的一侧与所述第一 玻璃基板形成有所述腔室的一侧对盒封框而执行。
17、如权利要求 11所述的制作方法, 其中, 所述反光导电元件为薄膜晶 体管的漏极;
所述在所述第一玻璃基板的第一表面上形成反光导电元件, 包括: 在所述第一玻璃基板的第一表面上形成源极和能反光的漏极, 在所述源 极和漏极上形成半导体层, 在所述半导体层上形成源漏极保护层;
在所述源极或者所述漏极的背向所述第一玻璃基板的一侧形成栅极, 在 所述栅极上形成栅极保护层。
18、如权利要求 12所述的制作方法, 其中, 所述反光导电元件为薄膜晶 体管的漏极;
所述在所述第一玻璃基板的第一表面上形成反光导电元件, 包括: 在所述第一玻璃基板的第一表面上形成源极和能反光的漏极, 在所述源 极和漏极上形成半导体层, 在所述半导体层上形成源漏极保护层;
在所述源极或者所述漏极的背向所述第一玻璃基板的一侧形成栅极, 在 所述栅极上形成栅极保护层。
19、如权利要求 13所述的制作方法, 其中, 所述反光导电元件为薄膜晶 体管的漏极;
所述在所述第一玻璃基板的第一表面上形成反光导电元件, 包括: 在所述第一玻璃基板的第一表面上形成源极和能反光的漏极, 在所述源 极和漏极上形成半导体层, 在所述半导体层上形成源漏极保护层;
在所述源极或者所述漏极的背向所述第一玻璃基板的一侧形成栅极, 在 所述栅极上形成栅极保护层。
20、如权利要求 17所述的制作方法,还包括在所述源极或者所述漏极的 背向所述第一玻璃基板的一侧形成栅极,在所述栅极上形成栅极保护层之后, 在所述源极上形成过孔。
