Abstract

A functional member having a function of removing droplets from the surface of a dielectric that has a plurality of electrodes disposed thereinside so as to apply an electric field to the vicinity of the surface thereof, by giving a water-repellent treatment to the surface of the dielectric and applying a voltage to the electrodes; and a method of removing droplets from the water-repllency-treated dielectric surface by applying an electric field to the surface. Since droplets on the water-repellent surface can be removed effectively by using an electric field, an excellent drip-proof effect can be given to transparent elements such as various types of glass structures and mirror structures.
