Abstract

A method is disclosed for coupling of planar chromatography and mass spectroscopy, comprising placing a matrix that contains analytes that have been separated by planar chromatography in a gel (2), between at least two electrodes, activating an electrical current (27) in said electrodes, wherein activation of the current induces movement of the analytes out of the matrix, towards one of the electrodes, collecting the analytes from the external surface of the matrix to a sampling port and transferring the analytes to a mass spectrometer (5).
