Be it known that LABRUZZO MICHELE, a citizenof Italy, residing at Pittsbur in the; county of Allegheny and State of ennsyl- Vania, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements in Repeatin@r Firearms or Rifies -and I do declare thelfollowingto be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable .others skilled in. the art to which it appertainsto make and use the same, reference being had to the ac" companying drawings, and to the iigures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification. l
This invention relates to an improved repeating firearm or rifle and'it consists in the certain details of construction and combinaparts, as will be fully described here-4 inafter.
In the accom an ing drawings, Figure 1 is a side sectiona e evationof the working parts of my' improved irearm, the riflebarrel being partly broken away, the said view being constructed and arranged in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2-is a sectional end view of the same, the said section being taken on the line i:una of' Fig.'1. Fig.v 3 is a fra mentary sectional view Ashowing the breeo mechanism and means for turnin the cartridge after same has been removed om the carryingmechanism; and Fig.l 4 is a top plan view'tii'ereof, partly vlshown in section.
To put my invention into practice, I pro- `vide av hollow stock 1 of a suitable'size and form of construction and it the same with a rifle-barrel 2 and mechanism for o erating the breech-block ,5 to be hereina ter described. Arranged within the stock 1 is a spring-actuated mechanism consisting of the spring 1 1, mounted in a frame 13, a-nd a series of gearing 12, adapted to operate a sprocket- .wheel 8 at the front and a slmilar wheel 14 at the rear. Q erating over these two s rocketwheels 8 an 14 .an also a like whee 14 is a belt 10, carrying a number of spring-holders 25, in which cartridges 26 are placed, the said holders being arranged at regular intervals the entire length of said belt, as will be seen by reference to Fig. 1 of the drawin s. The shaftsl of the two rear sprocket-whee s 14 and 14l are each fitted with small s rockets connected the one with the other ya chain 16 to insure uniform movement, the said shafts being driven by gearing 17 and 18 from the REPEATING FlREAnM on RIFLE..

At the forward end of the belt 10 1s arrangeda lever 19, which is connected by a rod 21 to a crank-disk 22,- the obj ect of which is to lift the cartridge 26 from the holdand starts that end down the inclined up er face of said lever 19. As said cartrl ge moves forward the movement of its cap end will be retarded by enga ement with a -rib 20. The forks 20 of sald. ever at this period are inclined and the cartrid e slides endwise down the same past the reech-block 5.- This breech-block is slidably mounted -by a cross-bar 31 in grooveduides 32 on op osite sides of the casing, an to said crossar is pivotally connected the trigger 4. When theV trigger 1s in its forward position under the action of the spring 33, the cross-bar 31 is in the lowest portion of the curved guides 32 and the 'breech-block out of the path of the cartrid e as it slides down the forks 20.
Upon orward movement of the trigger the cross-bar lifts in guides 32 raising the'breech.- block between forks 20 and bringing the firing-pin. 34 in'to line with thecartridge for elzploding the latter by any 'suitable means.

Various modifications and changes may be made in the' details of constructlon with- A, out departing from the spirit of the Invention. Therefore I do not wish to confine myself to that shown and described.
Having thus described my inve'ntion,'whatA I claim, and desire t'o secure by Letters Patent is- 1. In a firearm of the nature described,
the combinationcomprising the spring-actuated mechanism for rotating sprockets, of a belt or stra .enga ing said sprockets to give the 'same a igorwarcontinuous movement, a lever for removing cartridges attached `to said belt or strap one at a time, and deliverin the same to the loading and firing mechamsm of thefiirearm, as described.
2. In 'a firearm, a barrel, an endless car- IOO tridge-conveyer operated by spring-actuated f mechanism, means for extracting the cartridges therefrom, means for turning said cartridges, and means for feeding said cartridges to said barrel.
3. Aiirearm, in combination With the barrel, of an endless cartridge-carrier operated by spring-actuated mechanism, pivoted means by which said cartridges are extracted from said carrier, and means operating Within said pivoted means for feeding said cartridges into said barrel.
4. Aiirearm, in combination Withthe barrel, of an endless cartridge-conveyer operated by spring-actuated mechanism, a cartridgeextractor, means in conjunction therewith for turning the cartridges, and a vertically? moving means for transferring the cartridges from said extractor into the barrel. y
5. A firearm, in combination with the bari rel, of an endless cartridge-conveyer operated by spring-actuated mechanism, means for extracting the cartridge therefrom, and a ver tically and horizontally movable breechblock for feeding the cartridge from said extracting means to said barrel.
6. In a firearm, in combination With the barrel, of an endless cartridge-conveyer operated by spring-actuated mechanism, a pivoted extractor and turner a breech-block operating through said pivoted extractor, and means whereby said breech-block is moved vertically and horizontally.
