2 Claims. (Cl. 4179) to equalize the heating of the lower portion of the bathtub.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of the type utilizing hot air in connection with heating of a bathtub and the bathroom.
Other and further objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a view partly in elevation and partly in section of a bathtub heating assembly embodying the invention.
Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical sectional view of the same.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the heat diffusing means.
Fig. 4 is a vertical sectional view through the heat difiuser and duct terminal.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, the numeral refers to a conventional recessed tub with a frontal wall 11 apertured at 12 to accommodate the register 13.
The floor 14 and sub-floor 15 have registering apertures as at 16. A sheet metal element 17 surrounds the opening which is larger than the pipe element 18 receivpart of a conventional hot air heating plant.
"ice
ing the elbow 19 connected with the duct 20 forming The diffusing element 21 prevents a hot spot on the tub bottom 22, and includes the arcuately formed ring elements 23, 24 and 25 fixed on the struts 26.
In use, the heat will be difiused under the tub bottom 22 and will heat the area thereunder and within the walls 27 and 28 and the frontal tub portion 11, finally discharging the heat through the register 13 to warm the room.
It will be understood that the device is capable of many modifications in structure and design, without departing from the spirit of the invention, within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed and desired to be secured by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
1. In combination with a recessed bath tub, a floor surface thereunder having an aperture therein, a hot air duct having its discharge end in said aperture to supply heat under said tub, a heat difiuser coupled with the upper terminus of the hot air duct, and a plurality of arcuate deflectors for forcing the heated air circularly laterally of the terminus of said hot air duct.
2. In combination with a bathtub having a frontal flange extending downwardly beyond the tub portion to form a Wall, said wall having a grilled opening, a floor surface under the tub having an aperture therein, a hot air duct having its discharge end in said aperture to supply heat under the tub and within said frontal wall, and a plurality of externally concave rings arranged progressively smaller from bottom to top crowning the discharge end of said hotair duct to diffuse heat laterally under said tub portion.
